Adriana Martins

Adriana Alves de Paula Martins is Assistant Professor of the Portuguese Catholic University in Viseu, where she has taught, among other subjects, English, English Literature, Portuguese Literature, Business English, Intercultural Communication, Multilinguism and Multiculturalism since 1994 at undergraduate and graduate levels.

She has a PhD in Comparative Literature from the same university with a thesis on José Saramago’s and Gore Vidal’s historical fiction (A Construção da Memória da Nação em José Saramago e Gore Vidal), which was published by Peter Lang in 2006.

She has presented several papers on contemporary Comparative Literature and postcolonial issues at international meetings in Europe and the US. In 2006 she published with Mark Sabine a book of essays on José Saramago in the domain of Comparative Literature (In Dialogue with Saramago: Essays in Comparative Literature, Manchester Spanish and Portuguese Series, 18, 2006).

In September 2007 she published with Filomena Capucho, Christian Degache and Manuel Tost the book Diálogos em Intercompreensão (Lisboa: Universidade Católica Editora). Her present research interests are Comparative Literature, Postcolonial Studies, Multinguism, Multiculturalism, and Intercomprehension.
