Anne Martina Emonts

Anne Martina Emonts (15.3.1957) a German Culture lecturer at the University of Madeira, Portugal. She graduated in German Studies and Catholic Theology at the University of Bonn, Germany (1983) where she worked as a lecturer in a publishing house and as chief editor of a catholic weekly (1983-1986).

She graduated in Portuguese Studies at the University of Lisbon, Portugal and was also working as a lecturer at the University of Madeira. For her Master in Portuguese Contemporary History at the University of Madeira, she won the National Award for Feminist Studies of Portugal in 2001, whilst working as a junior lecturer at the University of Madeira. Since 2006, she holds her PhD in German Culture (Mechtilde Lichnowsky – Sprachlust und Sprachkritik. Annäherung an ein Kulturphänomen [Mechtilde Lichnowky – pleasure of language and critics of language. Approach to a cultural phenomenon]) by the University of Madeira and under the supervision of Professor Doutor António Sousa Ribeiro from the University of Coimbra.

Her main research areas are Cultural Studies of the early 20th Century with a focus on Gender Studies, Cross-Cultural Studies and German Modernisms.
