José Miguel Sardica

Born in Lisbon, José Miguel Sardica finished his History Course in 1992, at the Social and Human Sciences Faculty of the New University of Lisbon.

He began his academic career at the Human Sciences Faculty of the Portuguese Catholic University in 1993-1994. He became Master in 1997 and achieved his Doctorate in Contemporary History in 2003. Currently, he is Ph.D Professor, Coordinator of the History Scientific Area and Executive Secretary at his Human Sciences Faculty of the Portuguese Catholic University (where he teaches Contemporary History, History of the Press and Public Opinion and Comparative European History), member of the editorial board of the History and Communication & Culture journals, and external collaborator of the Social Sciences Institute of the University of Lisbon.

His main areas and themes of interest and research are the political, institutional and cultural history of XIXth Century Portugal, along with general contemporary history and press/public opinion history. With several articles and papers published in specialized journals, he is author of the books A Dupla Face do Franquismo na Crise da Monarquia Portuguesa (Lisbon, Cosmos, 1994) A Regeneração sob o Signo do Consenso.
